Awakening

"A kingdom crumbling all around me, I chose a life of solace in the caves and crumbling remains of it. It was an easy life really, and through my ventures did I find many interesting things.."

Jeschi slammed the pickaxe down into the wall, cracking it some. He was working on yet another storage area where he would store his seemingly endless supply of "goods". Though, that term could easily be overused. Most of his tools and weapons were crafted from wood and stone, minus a few crafted from metal. Plus a multitude of armor, cloth and tools left behind. He was sweating profusely and had to quit for awhile to cool off and rest.

He lived in a scary network of tunnels and semi refurbished castle. He knew his ways around it, but it was also large enough others could hide in there without his knowledge. Though, years of isolation had turned Jeschi bitter and murderous. He could kill without hesitation.

The northwest of those lands, a wild frontier indeed... The Sundjaran plague from the Sultanate hit the region hard 'a time ago', massive depopulation of sedentary peoples of this area.. So, this man Malkov is left alone mostly now... There is sporadic raids from a nearby small kingdom of 'thracianised' hobgoblins, nomadic peoples both of the steppes and the 'pagan' coldwoods north and the odd subculture-state called Cossacks, eastern thracians who choose a life of horse-riding and honor against powerfull rulers...

They do also however traide now and then with hermits like this. Some wandering tradesmen dare, risk big for a profit in such regions. It's bad wilderness. A place were women are as hardy and stoic as men, and.. things as monsters and spirits may strike at you, corner of the wild...

Well, Jeschi was half-right on the fact that other people may lurk in that castle. The only problem was that his guest wasn't a human.

Ghast has slithered into the castle through a broken wall on the North side, pretty far from Jeschi. The last village he'd terrorized had started to send armed soldiers in to find him, so he knew to get out of there.

The snake-thing took up residence in that North hall, widening the entrance a bit, and digging through the dirt to make himself a place to sleep on for the night.

Jeschi was not fond of "visitors", and may have had a reputation of killing hobgoblins and the like that dared venture near his "stash".

He was completely oblivious to Ghast's presence in his "Castle", though he did pay a visit to that part of the castle in search of wood to burn.

And Ghast was oblivious to Jeschi's presence, the wind wasn't right, and he hadn't caught any of that scent. The snake thing was occupied with hunting for any wild boar that lived in the ruins, and had already caught one and dragged it back to his lair, leaving a pretty conspicuous blood trail.

The potential squeals of the boar would have drawn Jeschi's immediate attention.

Though after some searching, he did discover the blood trail. He followed it. He had his battle axe with him, a dangerous weapon when in his hands.

Ghast was back in his lair, devouring his catch. But now he finally caught Jeschi's scent, and it was coming closer. He quickly finished and ducked around a corner, waiting for him to get closer. Boar was fine, but a human walking alone through a creepy maze of ruined towers and hallways? This would be easy.

Having lived in the area for years, Jeschi had gained a near super human feeling of his surroundings. He knew something was in there, something that could down a boar. Something that could be best dealt with using... home made TNT.

He licked a bit of blood off his face, patiently waiting. He caught scent of that TNT though, just what the hell was this guy UP to?

Jeschi stabbed his axe into the ground, handle first. He produced a piece of flint, and a stick of TNT.

Jeschi held the fuse near the flint, striking the flint upon the steel blade of the axe. It took a few tries before the TNT fuse caught.

"TSSSSS..." it hissed, Jeschi tossing it into the door/hole that the blood trail went into.
